A
FATHER'S PROMISE

Submitted 18 June 1998 by Debra

as a Father's Day offering
In 1989 an 8.2 earthquake almost
flattened Armenia, killing over 30,000 people in less than four minutes.
In the midst of utter devastation and chaos, a
father left his wife securely at home and rushed to the school where his son was
supposed to be, only to discover that the building was as flat as a pancake.
After the traumatic initial shock, he remembered the promise he had made to his
son: "No matter what, I'll always be there for you!" And tears began to fill
his eyes. As he looked at the pile of debris that once was the school, it
looked hopeless, but he kept remembering his commitment to his son.
He began to concentrate on where he walked his son
to class at school each morning. Remembering his son's classroom
would be in the back right corner of the building, he rushed there and started
digging through the rubble.
As he was digging, other forlorn parents arrived, clutching their hearts,
saying: "My son!" "My daughter!" Other well meaning parents tried to pull him
off of what was left of the school saying:
"It's too late!"
"They're dead!"
"You can't help!"
"Go home!"
"Come on, face reality, there's nothing you can do!"
"You're just going to make things worse!"
To each parent he responded with one line: "Are you going to help me now?" And
then he proceeded to dig for his son, stone by stone.
The fire chief showed up and tried to pull him off of the school's debris,
saying, "Fires are breaking out, explosions are happening everywhere. You're in
danger. We'll take care of it. Go home." To which this loving, caring
Armenian father asked, "Are you going to help me now?"
The police came and said, "You're angry, distraught and it's over. You're
endangering others. Go home. We'll handle it!" To which he replied, "Are you
going to help me now?" No one helped.
Courageously he proceeded alone because he needed to know for himself: "Is my
boy alive or is he dead?"
He dug for eight hours . . . 12 hours . . . 24 hours ... 36 hours . . . then, in
the 38th hour, he pulled back a boulder and heard his son's voice. He screamed
his son's name, "ARMAND!" He heard back, "Dad!?! It's me, Dad! I told the
other kids not to worry. I told 'em that if you were alive, you'd save me and
when you saved me, they'd be saved. You promised, 'No matter what, I'll always
be there for you!' You did it, Dad! . . . "
"What's going on in there? How is it?" the father asked.
There are 14 of us left out of 33, Dad. We're scared, hungry, thirsty and
thankful you're here. When the building collapsed, it made a wedge, like a
triangle, and it saved us."
"Come on out, boy!"
"No, Dad! Let the other kids out first, 'cause I know you'll get me! No matter
what, I know you'll be there for me!"
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for
the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."

The Promise of the Miracle of Heaven - Our REAL HOME!

God Blesses Us with Visions of Comfort allowing us to know He is there to greet
our loved ones entering their Real Home in Heaven, with Him.
Throughout the years, we struggled often with doctors and nurses who thought
they knew best, where my mother's life was concerned. All to often
they wanted to "let her die" and not administer the best quality care they could
provide, stating, "she'll never make it, she won't survive, she'll never come
off the respirator, her quality of life will be poor, etc..." They
accused us of being "cruel and unfair" to my mother. There were times that
the doctors actually tried to force our hands in a most unethical manner by
barreling in to the ICU, refusing and ignoring the nurses, respiratory therapy
team and my pleadings and reminders to wait for the results of the blood tests
that are critical and essential to determining a patient's respiratory status
while on the ventilator, and simply closing the curtain and door and removing
the tube from her lungs. Not to mention that the primary Pulmonary
physician had just told us the night before (about 11 hours prior), that she
would never come off the ventilator because she could not breathe on her own
(although I don't know how he could have possibly known since not enough time
had elapsed for him to make such a judgement, as she had not even been allowed
sufficient time to heal.)
He actually yelled at us and again told us how cruel and unfair we were, to not
let her die. Funny, and worth mentioning is the fact that he was not the
doctor that came in early the next morning to commit this crime against my
mother. We had never seen this doctor before and did not even know who he
was. As I stood in shock and disbelief, I of course prayed, and
immediately following the removal of the tube, my mother smiled and said, "thank
you, you did this didn't you? As I began to say "no, not me....."
She continued saying,
"It was your prayers, God was here."
So even while doctors say a patient is comatose, semi-comatose, or they appear
to be unconscious or oblivious to what is going on around them, know that they
are aware and can hear, and know that the Blessings of fervent Prayer
should never be underestimated. No one ever taught me how to pray for
these wondrous miracles. Instead it was as though the Lord was guiding me,
and one thing I came to realize is that each and every time we defied the
physicians' expert opinions of certain death based on medical science, at least
one person learned or gained some knowledge beyond their limited scope.
Perhaps that is the reason for the many healing miracles I and others have been
Blessed to witness. Although to some it seems as though they
have to endure much suffering, if we know it is for God's Glory, to teach
a narrow minded society, then we have fulfilled his wishes.
So against the rantings of misguided physicians, and the limitations of medical science, once again, my mother survived and was able to walk out of the hospital. And each and every time, through and by the Grace of God, she did survive, come off the respirator and so on. Many called each recovery "a Miracle". A couple of the physicians that had attempted to take over the role of the one true God, actually came and apologized to my father and I.
Many
years later........
My mother and I had agreed that I would be the one to help make necessary
decisions when God was calling her home. She knew that at all costs, I
would fight for Life, as God has instructed all of us. I lived in a
different town than my parents, so when I got the call from my father this time,
I somehow knew this would be the last time. I went home and stayed with
her all night in her room. While the nurses and doctors all told me she
was comatose and non-responsive, my mother and I talked, yes she was very tired
and talked slowly in but a whisper and with few words, but was definitely able
to respond and even ate a little for me.
I left the next afternoon, to go home for just a couple of hours to bathe and
change clothes (since I had gone straight to the hospital from the airport the
day before.) When I got home, an incredible sleepiness took over and I
just had to rest for an hour or so and then planned to return to the hospital.
A couple of hours later, my father called from the hospital and said mom was
asking for me, "you'd better come." It took all the strength I could
muster, as I knew this would be the last time. I actually delayed a
couple more hours I guess out of selfishness (knowing what was to be).
When I walked in her room, what I saw was nothing short of a miracle. This
woman that seemingly could not move on her own except for her head (a couple of
inches) and hands very slightly and very slow, had been in a slightly slumped
over position with her head completely bent forward and down on her right chest
and shoulder with eyes closed, as though she was stuck in that position, and had
been barely able to speak,
~ sat straight up in bed
with the most beautiful smile from ear to ear that I had ever seen, her eyes wide, beautiful, and face glowing, and the brightest
white glow of light encircled her. She reached her arms out to me, saying
in her full voice, "oh you're here! I'm so glad you're here, you look so
beautiful! Come give me a kiss my beautiful daughter, give me more kisses,
harder so I can feel it." I told her I was afraid I'd hurt her. She said
"no you won't"
~
After we hugged and kissed and said I love you for a few minutes, she then
quietly returned to the exact position she had been in that made her appear
comatose/unconscious, with her head bent forward and to the right with eyes
closed.
At that point, still in the same position, she said,
"Susan, I'm ready to die,
I want to go home." I said, ok, mom, I'll talk to the doctor and get
everything ready for you to come home. She then said, "No. I mean my
real home."
And at that
point, I of course knew, and within a few minutes she passed peacefully to her
King.

The Mysterious Ways, Miracles and Blessings of God
The following story is true. It happened in Ft. Payne, Ala., in Feb. of 1999. It's one of those things that you hear about, But when you hear about it happening to someone near by, it makes it even more real and can bring you to your knees praising God.
There is a couple whose little boy, 6, has a tumor in his brain that is very rare and without treatment will kill him. They have been told that there is only one doctor in the world that has experienced success with this particular type tumor. The problem is, this doctor is in Asia. The family, their friends, and their church all prayed for God's compassion as this little boy has grown sicker and sicker. The family cannot afford to take the boy to Asia for the necessary surgery. As a matter of fact, they couldn't afford the surgery if they had access to the doctor. Consequently, most of the prayers have simply asked God to prevent the child from suffering as the tumor kills him. The boy's dad is a salesman at a local Ford dealership. Last week, a very well dressed man stopped at this Ford Dealership. The dad talked to him. The customer said that he didn't need a car. He obviously could afford it, but he explained that he didn't need a vehicle. He added, that he wasn't sure why he had even stopped. Upon hearing this, the dad suggested that they go into his office and talk and look over some brochures. As they exchanged introductions, the dad discovered that the man had the same last name of the Asian doctor who could operate on his son's tumor. Upon hearing the name, the dad fell to his knees and wept. He began praying that the man might be a relative, a brother, or at least know the doctor. He was thinking that if he were a family member or knew the doctor, maybe he could intervene and make some arrangements to get help for his son.
Noticing what was happening, the other staff members of the Ford dealership began gathering around the dad and the stranger. The customer was more than a little surprised by this reaction to his name. It was only when the dad related the story about his son's tumor that it all began to fall into place.
For, you see,
the customer was not a family member of the doctor, or even someone who knew the
doctor. He was the doctor. He explained that he is moving from Asia to begin
practicing medicine in the United States. In fact, he is going to practice
medicine in the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham, Al., which is just
two hours from Ft. Payne. He promised that as soon as he completes his move from
Asia to the US, that he would perform the surgery on the little boy, free of
charge. Now, you might ask, why would a very successful and wealthy doctor from
Asia, who is in the process of moving his practice to Birmingham, Ala. stop at a
Ford dealership in Ft. Payne, Al.? Who knows?
God works in mysterious ways.

The Accident That Never Was
It was Christmas Eve and I was driving to a friend's house during the hectic, Los Angeles rush-hour. The night was pitch black and raining so hard that visibility was nil. The three lanes of traffic on congested La Cienega Blvd. were stopped for a red light and my tiny white sports car was the last in a very long line of vehicles. I was in the far left lane, wedged next to a 2 foot high cement island, casually looking through my rear view mirror at the reflection of the street lights and holiday decorations on the dark, shiny wet street behind me when I saw the three cars. There was one in each lane speeding towards the stopped traffic, exceeding the speed where they could safely stop. The cars suddenly slammed on their brakes and started sliding and swerving all over the road as they attempted to stop.
I knew for certain that my car would be hit and having no way to escape it, murmured, "Please, God, help me" as I braced myself for the impact. I kept looking through the mirror and watched the cars approach. Unexpectedly, I felt a very gentle, soft tap at the back of my car followed by a slight lifting sensation but did not see a car hit me. I then hear the crash of the cars slamming into other cars. I waited a few moments for the dust to settle and then got out of my car to see what had happened and give assistance if anyone needed help.
As I exited, I was surprised to find my car sitting on the cement island. I had not felt enough of an impact to have moved that far, plus the car was exactly parallel to its original position, as if it had been lifted up and moved three or four feet to the left then set gently down. It seemed slightly strange but at the time I really didn't give it much thought.
Fortunately, no one was physically
hurt, however there was considerable damage to several of the stopped
cars and the three cars that had hit them. What amazed me was that
everyone wanted to know how I was and how much damage my car had
suffered. I said I was fine an
I was thankful that there were so many witnesses to this incident as it opened my eyes to the miracle that had just taken place. From my perspective nothing happened and I was not hit. After they told me of their perspectives, I realized that a force had protected me by lifting my car out of harm's way. Although I did not see or hear anything, I know the gentle tap and lift that I felt had to have been from my Guardian Angel. --Troika Celeste Germain

A Miracle When I found out I was pregnant with my son, Christopher, my husband and I were delighted. My daughter was 9 years old and we were ready for a new baby and to give her a little brother or sister. My pregnancy was filled with troubles. At 6 months I had some unexplained bleeding and at 7 months was told to stay off my feet as much as possible. Chris was born Oct. 19,1983. When he was 5 weeks old I noticed he was wheezing somewhat and took him to the doctor. I was told he had a mild cold and not to worry. The next day, Thanksgiving Day, Chris was really struggling to breath. After a call to the doctor, my husband and I started out to the hospital emergency room. Just before I got into the car with Chris, he started turning blue. I grabbed Chris out of the car seat and ran back to the house and called 911. After the ambulance got us to the hospital, the doctors told us Chris had pneumonia. While admitting him to the pediatric unit, they did several blood tests. He was in an oxygen tent and on IV antibiotics. I would not leave the hospital for any reason, my baby was sick and I was staying with him. The next day, the doctors called my husband at home and told him to come to the hospital...one of the doctors was a friend of ours and didn't want me to be by myself when they gave us the bad news. They said our son had a bacterial blood infection and would die. Needless to say, our world caved in. My mom contacted her church and asked for prayers. My sister and my daughter came to the hospital and we all got on our knees and prayed for Chris. I asked God to please give my baby a chance to live and grow up. All this time Chris was just laying in the crib not really responding to any kind of stimulation. Mom called our pastor who came to the hospital and we all prayed again. Prayer lines were going coast to coast through our church and the members who called on their friends for help for the baby. I have never prayed so hard in my whole life. On Saturday night, the lab tech came for more blood. She returned about 6 hours later for more. Sunday morning I felt more at peace, a warm calming feeling had come over me during the night. When the doctor came in Sunday morning, he advised the nurse that if the IV came out, not to put it back in. Despite the peace I felt, I came unglued and let that doctor know he was not going to let my baby die...I would take Chris to another hospital if I had too. The doctor looked at me with a smile and said "I don't know what happened but the first two blood tests showed the bacterial infection. The ones taken on Saturday showed no infection of any kind." About that same time I noticed Chris was awake and alert and moving his little arms in the air! More blood tests and X-rays showed his lungs clear and no infection was detected! My baby was healthy. I told the doctor that medicine had not saved my baby, God had. Today Chris is a healthy 15 year old who never gets sick! He is such a joy to me and the family. I know God saved my son and has plans for him down the road. Chris is such a funny kid and keeps us laughing everyday. Thank You God for this special boy! |
God Saves
My parents had told me this story a long time ago. This happened before I was born in the year 1971. My parents were involved in making these really neat hot rod cars with really fast engines. Well they would race these cars some place in California with their friends. My parents always would ride in the car together. One day my dad was about to take the car for a test drive, and my mom said, "Wait and I'll go with you." But he said "No I'm going to do this one by myself!
So my dad took off going at a high rate of speed and got out of sight of my mother and all the others that were that were there. He had been gone longer than usual, so my mother and the others went to go look for him. When they found him he had had a horrible car wreck! He was laying beside the car.
The Fire and Rescue Dept. showed up. They asked him how did he get out of that vehicle?
He said "Where's that man? A man lifted me out of the car and said, 'Son, everything's going to be alright'. The man was wearing a white gown and had long dark hair. Then he just walked away." They looked for him and couldn't find him. The rescue people said "there was no way he could have gotten out of that car". He had many internal injuries. But another strange thing that had happened: the passenger's side of the car was smashed to the driver's side. That is the side where my mother would have been setting if she had gone for that test drive.
A month later they found out
they were going to have a baby - that's me! I thank God for His many miracles!

THAT DOCTOR WILL NEVER BE THE SAME!
It was about a year ago, actually right about this time, and it is with my nephew Nathan. He was four years old and was having headaches and doctors weren't quite sure what it was. So they ran some tests, he was very ill. They diagnosed him with a brain tumor. It was pretty large, they said a third of the size of his brain. He had had it in the womb, so it had been there for almost five years. And they were going to have to do surgery. So we brought him up here, we brought him to the Miracles Healing Center and they did a healing through the power of prayer. That night he had the worst headaches he had ever had. My sister took him into the hospital and they did a cat scan of his brain. They said that all they could think is that something had shifted. There had definitely been a change. The tumor was still there, but there was a shift. So that was early December of last year. And the first surgeon that looked at him had reputation, the most reputable surgeon in the area, and he said that it was too advanced. That he wouldn't even touch it, it was way out of his league. So we took him to see a second surgeon who said that he would have to have several operations, that the tumor had been there for a long time. It was the stickiest tumor of the thousands of tumors there are. And that he couldn't get it out just in one shot. It was too dangerous, so he would do several operations and he would do radiation-therapy, which was also very dangerous because he was very ill.
So we took him to a third surgeon, we took him to Mayo Clinic. And they too said that it was a very serious case, that there was no way that they would get all of the tumor, they told us that right away. They even said that this was not a time to hope for miracles, because of the state that it was at. They would go in once, they would get as much of it as they could and then they would use a certain targeted radiation to try to get the rest of it. But that really we were not to be very hopeful, because it was a very dire situation.
So we continued to pray and we continued to ask for help and guidance as to which doctor to go with. And we decide to go to Mayo Clinic, to go in once and get as much of it as we could and to follow their procedure. He went and had surgery, it was January of this year. He was in there for several hours, it was like ten hours. And we're all in the waiting room, praying constantly. And the surgeon, when he came out of surgery, came to us in the waiting room. I can remember the look on his face. He was so… the look on him scared me, because he was so shocked, he had this look of a man who had only certainty beforehand, looked very disturbed. And so we looked very upset and he said, "It's okay, it's okay! He made it, it's all right." And we said, "Oh, we were very scared." And he said, "Well, I'm just confused." We asked about what and he said, "The tumor popped out. " Oh, I'm remembering it now, such a beautiful moment. He didn't know what to say. And I said, "I thought it was a very sticky tumor and very entwined all around the optic nerve, very embedded in." He looked at me and he said, "Forget everything I told you. I can't explain it. Every time I went to close, every time a piece of it came out. I said to my assistant, "Well, that's all we look at, prepare to close." He said, "After saying that three times my assistant finally stopped listening. As soon as I thought we were done, another piece would come out. I have no explanation for it whatsoever." And I said, "Well, I do. I think it's a miracle." And he said, "I don't know what else it could have been. It must have been that. " They did a scan and then they did an MRI, because they still could not believe it. And it's been almost a year and every three months they scan it again, just to assure themselves that they removed it all. They just… That doctor will never be the same, he was quite stunned.

The Good-bye

My mother was ill for several years. She had several close calls. I took her to the doctor one Monday morning. She was so ill that we had to use an ambulance. On the way home she told me she was not going back to the doctor. I told her she was tired and she would feel better tomorrow. The next day I talked to her on the phone and she said she was very tired. I told her I would be down the next morning to fix her hair and to sit and talk.
When I arrived the following morning she told me that her mother was sitting on the couch when she woke up that morning. I thought she had been dreaming. I asked her what she had been wearing and she described exactly how I remembered her. I asked her if she said anything .
Mother replied that she said "Mary Lou , it's time for you to
come home."
I said" Do you mean like when you were a child?'
She said. " Yes, like when I was young".
When I look at my mother, she seemed to be looking over my shoulder at something in the distance. I kissed her good bye and told her if she felt like going home not to worry about us. We would understand. She kissed my hand and said " take care."
I called her again the next day but I had a cold and did not want to be around her. The next morning I awoke to the sound of the ambulance passing my house. Mother had gone home
A Broken Neck - Not Broken
Danielle
It all started last year when my mother got a call from my father's working partner. He was calling from the hospital to tell my mother they had been in a car accident. We rushed to the hospital and there we found friends of my father and his partner in the waiting room.
My father's partner explained to us what had happened. They had been sitting at a stop light in front of a Mobile station when a car watching a tracker trailer had gone out of control. They rushed my father to the hospital and at Dorchester General Hospital his neck was pronounced broken. At this time I went to the church with my grandmother where they were having play practice to tell my aunt we were driving to Baltimore.......everyone gathered in a circle and we prayed.....this prayer was carried out for the good part of 15 minutes by Reverend Paul Miller.
After this prayer took place, we went back to the hospital and they told us they had flown him to Baltimore Memorial Hospital where they would take more test and in a few hours. While the tests were given my father's mother, my mother's mother, my father's sister and brother and friends were at the Baltimore Memorial Hospital with us. The doctor came out and started explaining what had happened and what would be done to help this situation.
My grandmother, a very impatient person (who died 1 month ago), was asking the doctor question after question. The doctor told my grandmother that the neck HAD been broken but was NOT broken this time. The doctor asked my grandmother if the neck had ever been broken. She told him "no" a number of times and the doctor could not figure out exactly how the neck had been broken. So, in fact the neck was broken 2 hours before the last test was taken.....but then pronounced not broken.
I don't logically understand and can't explain what happened. However, I do think that right now - at the age of 14 - this is one of the things I don't need to understand. And right now I am just happy with the fact that my father had an angel from God that night. That's all I need to understand for right now
The Power of Prayer
Submitted by "Stan"
When I was elected for Order of the Arrow (a rank in scouting), I was required to sleep in the woods by myself. Well, I was fine with this but it worried my mother and grandmother. My grandmother was so worried she called a certain lady to ask her to pray for me. However, the lady didn't answer her phone, so my grandmother didn't leave a message. The lady had the "Caller ID" feature on her telephone, recognized my grandmother's number, and knew she had to pray for someone. She stayed up all night praying.
I was unaware any of this was going on. However, that night I saw a small green light come out of the woods and stay over me until morning.. I remember having tremendous peace as the light hovered over me. When I returned home, I told Mom about the experience. When my grandmother shared my story with the lady she had called, the lady told her she had been up all night praying for me saying, "Let the light of God shine on him."
